Our Community Help for Hard Times – Read the useful Resource Guide 


During the 2009/2010 LIVE UNITED Campaign, Orange County United Way committed funds to 90 programs dedicated to improving lives and addressing the greatest needs in our community: basic needs services for families in crisis,  educational programs and initiatives to ensure the future of our youth, and financial literacy programs and initiatives to assist the working poor.

Education
• Invested $900,000 into 24 Education Programs providing hope and help to 13,483 people

Income
• Invested $625,000 into 13 Financial Stability Programs providing hope and help to 9,988 people

Health

• Invested $620,000 into 10 Food Programs providing hope and help to 165,498 people
• Invested $1,195,000 into 21 Medical Care Programs providing hope and help to 33,122 people
• Invested $1,185,000 into 21 Shelter/Housing Programs providing hope and help to 6,362 people


The Need in OUR Community

• There are more than 229,000 households in OUR community that can't meet their most basic needs.
• There are more than 890,000 people at risk of hunger every month in OUR community.
• There’s an estimated 35,000 people who experience homelessness in OUR community over the course of a year, most of which are children.
• Orange County's four-year high school dropout rate rose from 9.5% to 14.3% in the last year alone.
