Safety Net Fund

Safety Net

Orange County United Way’s Safety Net Fund supports outcome-focused programs within our communities that help individuals and families secure their most basic needs. We know that these critical needs must first be met in order to move people from survival to the path towards economic self-sufficiency and security. The core services that the safety-net programs offer focus on the following:

  • Housing
  • Health
  • Child/Youth Development and Family Strengthening
  • Food
  • Employment
  • Education
  • Crisis Support
  • Child Care

In addition to addressing crisis needs under the safety net, we are taking a real hard look at the core issues causing individuals and families to be incapable of supporting themselves. We don’t just want to get people off the streets, we want to keep them off the streets and place them in jobs where they can provide for themselves. We don’t just want to find them a place to sleep; we want to give them something to dream. Orange County United Way’s goal isn’t a quick fix to treat symptoms.  It’s about providing the best possible care for those in crisis along with creating long-lasting change by focusing on root causes that prevent individuals from living self-sufficient lives.
