We at Orange County United Way are saddened to learn about the passing of former Orange County Sheriff Sandra Hutchens.
Not only was Sandra the first female Orange County Sheriff, she was also a dedicated philanthropic leader greatly involved with our work for more than a decade.
Sandra was a former Orange County United Way board member along with being a member of our Alexis de Tocqueville Society, President’s Circle, Women’s Philanthropy Fund, and Women United. Most recently, she co-chaired our 2019 Women’s Philanthropy Fund Breakfast.
“Sandra was an exceptional role model for us all and we will always remember her active engagement on our board. When she spoke about why the work we are doing to help children was so important, it brought tears to our eyes,” said Susan B. Parks, President and CEO of Orange County United Way. “Her ability to handle tough situations with grace and strength will be remembered always.”
We pass our deepest condolences to her family, friends, and all who were fortunate to know her.
