Important to Remember

  • Fortunately, we have no reason to believe that the Texas ruling will affect ACA/ Covered CA policies scheduled to go into effect on January 1, 2019.
  • If you have newly enrolled or renewed an ACA/CoveredCA plan for 2019, you must pay your first month’s premium no later than December 31 to secure coverage for 2019.
  • Payment of your first month’s premium establishes a binding contract between you and the insurance carrier for the plan year.
  • Make sure to review the Summary of Coverage and Benefits that outlines specific details of your plan.

Got questions? We got answers. Fill out the form above to learn more.

The Affordable Care Act, also known as “Obamacare”, provides the means for everyone to have health insurance coverage. Covered California was created to serve the health insurance needs of individuals, and families who live in California.

You may qualify for a discount on private insurance depending on your income, family size, and citizenship or immigration status. No one plans to get sick or hurt, and most people need medical care at some point in their life. Having health coverage will help put your mind at ease.

You have time to finish your application until December 21st for coverage to start on January 1st.

Success Stories

The value of health care is evident daily at United Way. One recent enrollee, Masako was eight months pregnant and awaiting the birth of her second child when we met her. On top of the usual concerns any couple has when they’re expecting, Masako was near tears as she considered her family’s tenuous coverage situation. Her husband had employee-only health insurance through his employer but the family plan was unaffordable. With her due date fast approaching, Orange County United Way helped her enroll in a plan that was right for her and her family.

Maria Success Story United Way

As a cancer survivor, now I am able to purchase insurance through Covered California and don’t have to pay those high premiums due to a pre-existing condition.
