Irvine, CA (April 24, 2024) – Orange County United Way will come together with Orange County’s top philanthropists, residents, and community leaders for the 21st annual Women’s Philanthropy Fund Breakfast on May 16, 2024, from 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Hyatt Regency Irvine.

The Women’s Philanthropy Fund was created to support the advancement of at-risk families and children in Orange County. Attendees will learn about the growing needs of the county’s most vulnerable families and children facing poverty and housing instability, and how Orange County United Way, alongside the Women’s Philanthropy Fund, is helping to ensure they can thrive.

“We are excited to come together once again for what is surely one of the most significant and inspirational events of the year, the Women’s Philanthropy Fund Breakfast, to make the ultimate impact in the lives of Orange County’s underserved children and families,” said Susan B. Parks, president and CEO of Orange County United Way and a founding member of the Women’s Philanthropy Fund. “The Breakfast is just one of many ways we encourage the community to get involved and help us celebrate 100 years of improving lives in Orange County.”

New this year, attendees will have an opportunity to take part in attempting a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for the most personal hygiene kits assembled in one hour for local neighbors in need.

“This year, we wanted attendees to actively take part in making a difference. These hygiene kits will make more of an impact in the daily lives of many people than you may even realize,” added Parks. “We look forward to seeing everyone there and attempting to break a world record!”

Since the events inception in 2003, millions of dollars have been raised to support various Orange County United Way program efforts. The funds have been invested in family financial wellness centers at two Title I elementary schools including Paul Revere Elementary in Anaheim and R.H. Dana Elementary in Dana Point, self-sufficiency programs supporting women and their families as well as efforts to end human trafficking via the Collaborative to End Human Trafficking.

Women United is the driving force behind the Breakfast, which is made up of a diverse group of more than 300 local women actively championing Orange County United Way’s programs. In addition to their steadfast commitment to supporting local women and children and stabilizing Orange County families, Women United members recognize that the issues facing this community are complex and ever-changing.

Maggie O’Sullivan, Executive Director of JP Morgan Chase and Women United Co-Chair, and Haunani Nakabara, Director of Tax Operations PMO for Intuitive, and Women United Co-Chair, will serve as this year’s Breakfast Co-Chairs.

BMO will serve as the Breakfast’s Champion Sponsor this year. Orange County United Way also thanks its “Journey to 100” Corporate Supporters, Eaton and Pacific Life.

“We are thrilled to serve as Champion Sponsor of this year’s Women’s Philanthropy Fund Breakfast and raise awareness and support for at-risk and underserved families in Orange County,” said Shannon Kennedy, Head, BMO Wealth Management U.S. “Sponsoring the Women’s Philanthropy Fund is more than just financial; it aligns with our belief that by listening to and joining forces with organizations such as United Way, we can bring help that is needed to support people daily, improving lives and strengthening communities.”
