Dr. Mahtab Jafari will lead us on a year-long journey with different topics each month that promote holistic health and well-being.

Dr. Mahtab Jafari Headshot

Featuring Guest Speaker: Dr. Mahtab Jafari 

Dr. Mahtab Jafari has been on the faculty of the University of California (UC) for over 25 years. She is currently a Professor in the UCI School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. She is also a certified Health and Wellness Coach and the Director of the newly launched “The UCI Center for Healthspan Sciences”. She has led basic, translational, data mining, and clinical sciences research studies in both academia and industry in addition to developing a number of courses and educational programs. In her research laboratory at UCI, her work is focused on slowing the aging process and adding healthy years to human life through a science that she introduced as Healthspan Pharmacology.

She developed a course titled “Life101” with the goal of improving her students’ mental and physical health. The course is now offered to all undergraduate students on 10 UC campuses. During the Local, Global & Me series, she will teach in depth on important and timely topics such as: Science of Changing Habits, Good Sleep, Recognizing and Managing Stress, and more!
